Nigerian Forward Henry Onyekuru finally made his comeback to the football field yesterday as he featured for the Anderlecht reserves in a game against Lokerens B side
The Nigeria international had missed much of the season due to a knee injury, but returned to full training this month after undergoing his recovery at Finch Farm
However the player seemed sharp but lacking full fitness as he featured for 30 minutes as the Anderlecht reserves defeat their Lokeren counterparts 4-1 with goals from Milan Corryn (1-1, pen), Osman Bukari (2-1), Milan Corryn (3-1) & Nelson Azevedo Janelas (4-1)
Management believe he will need more than one second-string game to be ready for a first team recall and plan to ease the Nigerian back into the first-team fold with reserve team football
Onyekuru is eager for a quick return to action to boost his chances of gatecrashing Nigerias world cup squad
Its uncertain f the 21 year old who has scored ten goals in 28 outings this season will be in contention for the squad to tackle Sporting Charleroi on Sunday.
