The EFCC has refused to release former Presidential Spokesman, Reuben Abati despite the fact that he’s met his bail conditions, a report from Premium Times says.
This follows Abati’s decision not to refund N5m of the money he reportedly got from the arms deal fraud which he’d earlier promised to return. He told interrogators that he had no immediate means of sourcing the amount for which he is being detained, reports say.
Mr. Abati is accused of receiving N50 million from the former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
On October 26 he was granted an administrative bail, and required as one of the conditions for his release, a surety of the level of director in the federal civil service.
However, an EFCC source said he had met his bail conditions since Friday, but the EFCC had refused to release him.
